Capacity Building in Myanmar
Interlink Academy supports the media house Dawei Watch in Myanmar. Dawei Watch is the only remaining independent publishing house in the southeastern province of Thanintharyi. The aim of the project is to strengthen the digital capacity of Dawei Watch which publishes the weekly newspaper Thanintharyi News.
In addition, it owns the regional news agency Dawei Watch. Attached to the media house are also a training center for local activists and a foundation for educating local commmunities.
The Interlink project will focus on the digitization of the newsroom and the marketing activities of the media house. Over the period of one yeaer, various consultants of the Interlink Academy will visit Dawei Watch and work with the local managment. In addition, several training courses will be conducted, e.g. on mobile video journalism, photography and online research techniques.
With professionalized managerial skills and improved journalistic products, the income stream will be stabilized and the Dawei Watch Media House can continue serving the public with relevant information.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the related travel restrictions, many discussions and much of the training have to be conducted online.
The Dawei Watch Media Group runs its operations from this building in a suburb of Dawei.
